American Cancer Society signals transition in cervical cancer screening from cytology to HPV tests

The 2020 American Cancer Society cervical cancer screening guidelines call for a shift to primary human papillomavirus testing every 5 years, with cotesting and cytology alone acceptable where primary testing platforms are not available. Initiation of screening is recommended at the age of 25 years instead of 21 years.
