Yolk sac ovarian cancer with mesenteric metastases

We present a rare case of mesenteric metastases of yolk sac ovarian cancer in an early adolescent girl. The patient initially presented with abdominal distension. The patient underwent physical and diagnostic testing, which yielded findings indicative of a malignant ovarian tumour (solid cystic mass and increased levels of tumour markers). Surgery was performed and histological examination revealed a yolk sac tumour that had spread to the mesentery. Chemotherapy was administered. Yolk sac ovarian cancer metastases usually occur in nearby structures; however, mesenteric metastases are rare.
