Pulmonary embolism in a post laparoscopic hysterectomy for endometrial cancer: defying thromboprophylaxis

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a rare but serious complication following gynaecological surgery, particularly in patients with underlying malignancy. We present a case of acute PE that occurred after a laparoscopic hysterectomy for early-stage endometrial cancer, despite thromboprophylaxis. This case report aims to highlight the persistent risk of venous thromboembolism in high-risk surgical patients and reviews current strategies for thromboprophylaxis in such scenarios.
