OHVIRA creates a doubled uterus with one vaginal canal that is completely blocked, often staying undetected until puberty when menstrual blood cannot drain. Because one side of the reproductive anatomy is hidden, tumors that develop in the obstructed compartment may not be visible on standard examination. - A systematic review identified and analyzed 21 reported cases of gynecologic cancers arising in people with OHVIRA syndrome, drawing on PubMed and Scopus through January 2026, plus one new institutional case.
